Agricultural tour in Hungary

1. day
Arrival at Budapest airport. With a local guide transfer by coach to Etyek, which is a small but quickly developing wine region in the Western side of Budapest. We visit a diary first: here in Ödön Major – farm there has been stock-raising for more than 200 years. It’s a fine 5 stars hotel for 1000 cows and 800 calves.

After this program we visit a privat vinery where the owner tells us about their work and products first, than we taste their wines and we enjoy our meal here made from local products.

After lunch we travel to Székesfehérvár overnight.

2. day
After breakfast we have a short walking tour in the historical centre of Székesfehérvár. We make a trip to a fishery in Dinnyés, than we visit Agárd and we take part in a distellery tour. How does fruit transform into stunning palinka? What steps are needed to capture and bottle the amazing, rich aromas and flavours of raspberry, sour cherry, plum and other delicate fruits? We see all this process of production and take part in a pálinka-testing. After this visit we have lunch.

After lunch we visit a privat garden in Székesfehérvár or at Lake Velencei where we see and enjoy the beauty of traditional Hungarian plants and the idea of the owner to arrange a unique and special own garden.
Overnight in Székesfehértvár.

3. day
After breakfast we travel to Lake Balaton. First we visit Balatonfüred, which is famous for it’s climate: visitors come to enjoy the mild micro-climate here, beautiful scenery, the local wine, made mostly of Olaszrizling grapes, and sailing and swimming facilities, as well as to revive the two-century-old tradition of socializing around spas, bathing and vacationing.

From Balatonfüred we travel to the northern shore of the lake on the Tihany Peninsula. The whole peninsula is a historical district: the center of it is the Benedictine Tihany Abbey, which was founded in 1055 by king András (Andrew) I, who is buried in the crypt. We make a short walking tour in the village, than we visit the Lavender House Visitor Centre. Lavender has always played an important role in the life of Tihany, we get to know all main details about it.

We enjoy our meal in a local restaurant, than we continue our trip to Balatonfenyves, Hubertus Hof Hotel.

4. day
After breakfast we visit Hubertus Agráripari Bt. Hubertus owns 9000 hectare area: the company has crop production on 2400 hectare, they use 2000 hectare as meadow and about 2000 hectare as forest where they organize also huntings. During our professional visit we will hear about compani’s movements and working, than we have lunch in Huberus’ own restaurant where we have the opportunity to taste their own products.

After the lunch we travel to Hévíz. the world’s second-largest thermal lake, but biologically the biggest active natural lake. It’s temperature is affected by the combination of hot and cold spring waters, coming from 38 meters underground. The water breaks out from a spring cave, at approximately 410 liters per second, with a temperature of 40 °C (104 °F). The biological stability of the lake is shown by the temperature of the water, which has not changed for years[3] and even on the coldest winter days doesn’t drop below 24 °C (75 °F). That makes bathing possible in the lake year round. In the summer, the water temperature can reach 37 °C (99 °F). We have time for bathing in the lake, than we will be accomodated in Keszthely, half board dinner in the hotel.

5. day
Buffet breakfast in the hotel, than we travel to Kaposvár and visit the museum of József Rippl – Rónay who was a Hungarian painter. He first introduced modern artistic movements in the Hungarian art.

Rippl-Rónai was seeking his way among the era's modern post-impressionist artists from the beginning of the 1890’s, mainly the Symbolist and Art Nouveau painters. The "break-through" came in 1894, when he became a member of a group of artists with similar art concept, called the Nabis. The Nabis' approach to Gesamtkunstwerk simply thrilled Rippl-Rónai who started to turn his hand seriously to graphics, lithography, posterdesigning and applied arts under their influence.

We continue our trip to Dombóvár and we visit a chocolate manufacture which products high quality chocolates and sweets mostly for present of diplomats.

We travel to Pécs and have a lunch in the famous Zsolnay district, than we take a walking tour in the centre of the city. We visit the cathedral, the old Christian crypts, the street of Museums, the monuments from the Turkish era and the main square of the city.

We accomodate, overnight in Pécs.

6. day
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. We travel to Kalocsa which is well known as the region’s of paprika. We have a professional visit at Kalocsai Fűszerpaprika Zrt, than at Paprika Museum.

After lunch we visit a local, family running vegetable farm and also a big gardening store where clients can make shopping.

We arrive at Budapest in the afternoon, check-in., half board dinner in the hotel.

7. day
After breakfast half day citytour in Budapest, than we have a light lunch. The afternoon is free. We travel by coach to the pier of Jászai Mari tér-square and we have a 2 – hours dinner cruise on Danube. Transfer back to the hotel, overnight.

8. day
After buffet breakfast transfer to the airport.
